What is a Journal Quilt?

A Journal Quilt is a small piece, often A4, which the quilter uses as a vehicle to explore new ideas and / or techniques. I have set a personal goal to create one per month during 2009.

June 09 - Sardines On Toast
Sardines and beetroot on toast was a favourite childhood tea, I love food and can get very sentimental about past meals!

This quilt is a practise run for colours and techniques for a quilt I hope to enter in a show next year. Hand dyed fabrics and T-shirt transfer. It didn't work out too well because I rushed the quilting and didn't follow the transfer instructions properly.

July 09 - Fantasy Ice Cream

The colour looks a bit wierd because it was scanned not photographed. Hand dyed fabrics, applique and embellishments make up this lovel ice cream sundae, I'm thinking of doing a pattern range based on ice cream parlours, let me know what you think!

The glass is cut from a piece of thick clear PVC from some kind of packaging.
